Virtual reality systems place users in an imaginary world, wherein they feel that they are actually participating in a scene, which in reality is generated by a computer. The systems originated in California and were developed by various companies in the Seattle region, Texas, Boston, Chicago and New York. Virtually Yours, the first exclusive retail store to sell such virtual reality equipment, was established in Indianapolis. Moreover, there are several establishments, in which people pay money to play Virtual Reality games. Virtual reality applications require headsets, hand gloves and other equipment, which are integrated with computer programmes. It is the fastest growing branch of electronics and computer technology. The distinguishing feature of VR is that its users feel that they are living in the computer – generated scene. VR games and other accessories are generally available with Incredible Universe and CompUSA chain stores. The present estimation regarding sales in the virtual reality market is approximately ninety million dollars per annum; and this is expected to increase to nearly six billion dollars in the future1. Virtual reality can be attributed to Sutherland who performed several pioneering works to develop the concept of virtual reality in the 1960’s. However the phrase virtual reality was coined for the first time in the late 1980’s. Some historians claim that the VR industry emerged during the 1990’s. VR gained popularity due to the extraordinary efforts of the early pioneers in this field2. Virtual reality is a computer – simulated world with which users can interact. These simulations, generally have some common characteristics, such as shared workspaces for the interaction of people with the programme, graphical user interface, real – time action, interactivity and persistence. Almost all simulations can be accessed over the internet. In those simulated worlds, there will be changes to the themes and landscapes, irrespective of the users who access the site. Online real time games come under this category of VR. For instance, Massively – multiplayer online role – playing games or MMORPGS are played in the virtual worlds. These are video games, which allow players to choose the persona of the characters in the play, and these persona are termed as avatars. MMORPGs and other virtual worlds are considered to be social networking programmes. Moreover, players can interact, form clubs, groups and chat with each other3. The availability of personal computers increased in the 1990’s, due to the drastic reduction in their cost. The use of personal computers increased tremendously. Moreover, computer technology was continuously improving, and the proliferation of the internet encouraged online gaming, and online virtual interactions between people. With the increasing bandwidth, the internet has become faster, and this has resulted in the emergence of more complex virtual worlds. Read the full article

Owen was mid-sip when Abby's voice reached him and he pushed off the counter. Duh, of course she needed to clean clothes and stuff. He'd been too busy in the kitchen to have thought ahead and prepared while she was in the shower. The garage was more of a workspace than anything else, a place for his personal projects like the motorcycle he was currently restoring and hoped to finish by the end of summer. His bedroom was on the opposite end of the house, far enough from Ian's that noise like music playing wasn't an issue—Ian was a budding musician, a singer mainly. The keyboard in the livingroom was shared between them despite it actually belonging to Ian. Like everything else from books and DVDs to Owen's rather impressive tool collection, they borrowed freely from each other.
From his dresser, Owen took out a plain black t-shirt and one of the lighter pairs of sweats that he owned along with a pair of socks if she wanted to wear them. He laid them out on the bed in the guest room—across the hall from the bathroom—and called out, "That comb on the sink is mine if you wanna use it. And there's a spare toothbrush behind the mirror, bottom shelf." The place was well-kept and quite clean despite two guys living there... Owen liked to keep things neat or it drove him nuts. Ian tended to leave his notebooks all over the house to write in whenever inspiration struck him; sheet music and lyrics scrawled out in capital letters that Owen sometimes paused to read. Ian held up the 'ordered chaos of an artist' archetype pretty well.
Upon approaching the threshold of the guest room currently occupied, the Firefly faced away so he wouldn't invade Abby's privacy as he spoke. "The prep is all done, the meat is cooking already. Just have to watch the pot and the fish... Grab yourself a beer if you want. And as Manny would put it: su casa es mi casa!" With that said, he continued down the hall and left the bathroom door open to let out the steam already accumulated. Having hot water didn't matter much to him right now. In fact, he wanted a mostly cold shower after baking in the sun for the last few hours. That impromptu swim to shore was nice but not enough. It was as the water pressure kicked in that Owen reflected on his time spent with Abby that day.
This was the closest he had felt to her in a while, at least on a physical level. Admittedly, he yearned to be closer still but didn't want to push for more than she was willing to give. Or receive. Maybe he should tone things down...? Yeah, he'd try. Let her have the space to initiate intimacy on her own if that was what she wanted, or to simply enjoy his company. So much had transpired, had changed in the years since they sailed from Seattle but... his love was unconditional. It wasn't dependent on whether or not she wanted to be with him or remain friends as they'd always been. It endured the bad days and embraced the good. When Abby was ready for him, he would be ready for her.
His words stuck with her as she allowed herself to finally unwind from the day and relax. Had it really been over a decade at this point? It was almost hard to believe but as she thought back on it, that really had been the case. From meeting each other in Salt Lake as teenagers to young adults Seattle in Seattle to now. Time really had flown by. Would it really be such a bad thing if she stayed here? Maybe not on a permanent basis, but every so often. Was there anything questionable about if it was on a permanent basis? The offer stands indefinitely. He had been clear as day and there wasn’t much room for misinterpretation there. It wasn’t a joke or him just being nice. Owen actually meant It.
It took her right back to Seattle, right back to the aquarium. We can choose to be happy. We’re allowed to be happy. That’s what he’d said. He’d meant it then too despite the absolute fucking mess that was engrossing their lives at that time. Everything had changed that night, for the both of them. It was impossible to go back to the way things were. Lives were lost and nothing would change that. But here they were years later and Abby couldn’t help but wonder if this was a second shot at things. Chasing happiness wasn’t bad, right? Something to mull over but for now, she was focused on relaxing.
It only took a sniff or two to decipher which shampoo and body wash were Owen’s and which ones must have belonged to Ian. Not like she had much choice with such a spontaneous stay and as much as she wants to stay in the hot water forever, it probably wasn’t the most polite thing to leave none for such a polite host. She’s quick to scrub away all the grime and get a good lather going in her hair before rinsing it all out. With a sigh, she reluctantly shuts off the water and is quick to grab her towel to wrap herself up. All good things must come to an end and damn if hot showers weren’t one of the absolute best luxuries around in a world like this.
The pile of dirty clothing on the ground would not be sullying her newfound cleanness but she’s unsure of where to find any alternatives. He said the garage was his right? Did he keep his clothing in there though? Or inside? She wasn’t about to wander around in a towel though she was certain Owen would say that was perfectly fine dinner attire.
Cracking open the bathroom door, Abby pokes her head out to look towards the kitchen. “Hey Owen?” she called out, waiting for the Yeah? she receives in return. “Can you lay some clothes out in one of the guest rooms for me? Nothing fancy please. Just movie night clothes.” She waits for confirmation before closing the door once more and hears quick steps fade amongst the opening and shutting of doors. It’s not until she’s given the okay and hears his steps fade away once more that she dips out and slips into one of the aforementioned guest rooms. “Showers all yours! Just leave whatever you need me to prep out and I’ll grab it in a second,” she calls out as she shuts the door to begin getting dressed.

Case Studies: The Top Dog-Friendly Companies and What You Can Learn From Them
Many companies have embraced the trend of allowing dogs in the workplace, but a few have stood out for their innovative approaches and the resulting benefits to their company culture. This blog post explores case studies from some of the leading dog-friendly companies and extracts key lessons for others looking to follow in their footsteps.
Amazon – Setting the Gold Standard for a Dog-Friendly Workplace
Tumblr media
At Amazon’s headquarters in Seattle, dogs have been a staple for years. With more than 1,000 dogs on campus on any given day, the company ensures that all employee needs are considered.
Facilities and Amenities: Amazon provides doggy water stations, a dog park, and even has a special “Dogs@Amazon” team dedicated to supporting the community of employees with pets.
Lesson Learned: Providing dedicated spaces and amenities for pets can significantly enhance the integration of dogs into daily work life without disrupting the business environment.
Google – Prioritizing Pet Wellbeing and Employee Satisfaction
Google is another top player that allows dogs in the workplace. The company is known for its “Dooglers” (Google dogs) and maintains a comprehensive pet policy that supports both pets and their owners.
Policy and Infrastructure: Google’s code of conduct clearly states that bringing a dog to work is a privilege that requires responsibility. Facilities are designed to ensure pets are safe and comfortable while allowing employees who prefer not to engage with pets to have their space.
Lesson Learned: Clear policies and respectful boundaries are crucial in maintaining harmony in a diverse working environment.
Ben & Jerry’s – Encouraging Fun and Responsibility
Tumblr media
Ben & Jerry’s has long been recognized for its laid-back and inclusive office culture, which naturally extends to dogs. The company allows employees to bring their dogs to work, seeing them as a source of joy and relaxation.
Culture Integration: Dogs are fully integrated into the company’s culture, participating in meetings and office events. Ben & Jerry’s sees this as a way to reduce stress and encourage a playful work environment.
Lesson Learned: Integrating pets into the broader company culture can enhance employee happiness and workplace cohesion.
Etsy – Supporting Community and Creativity
Tumblr media
Etsy not only allows dogs in their offices but actively promotes a sense of community among pet owners and their dogs. This aligns perfectly with their creative and community-oriented brand image.
Community Building: Etsy organizes pet-related events and provides resources for pet owners, including an internal social network for pet advice sharing among employees.
Lesson Learned: Building a community around shared interests, such as pet ownership, can foster a supportive work environment and deepen employee connections.
Salesforce – Providing Comprehensive Pet Benefits
Tumblr media
Salesforce offers one of the most comprehensive pet benefits packages, including health insurance for dogs and other pets. This approach highlights the company’s overall commitment to employee benefits and well-being.
Pet Benefits: Beyond allowing dogs at work, Salesforce offers benefits that acknowledge pets as integral parts of their employees’ families.
Lesson Learned: Extending employee benefits to include pets can significantly enhance job satisfaction and loyalty among pet-owning employees.
These leading companies demonstrate that when implemented thoughtfully, dog-friendly policies can significantly enhance employee satisfaction and corporate culture. By learning from these examples, other businesses can develop policies that not only accommodate dogs but also foster a more joyful and productive work environment
With Voice Of Stray Dogs (VOSD), learn to redesign your workspace into a dog-approved haven.

Logisticians pride themselves on their integrity. People with this personality type mean what they say, and when they commit to doing something, they make sure to follow through. This personality type makes up a good portion of the overall population, and while Logisticians may not be particularly flashy or attention-seeking, they do more than their share to keep society on a sturdy, stable foundation. In their families and their communities, Logisticians often earn respect for their reliability, their practicality, and their ability to stay grounded and logical, even in the most stressful situations.
A S T R O L O G Y
♑︎ SUN : CAPRICORN
Capricorn sign is ruled by the planet Saturn, which gives people born under this sign peace, patience, perseverance and ambition. These people are able to put maximum effort into work they have chosen to do or which they were told to do. They are friendly and cheerful people, but in their essence they are serious and responsible, and everything they do is based on these attitudes. They are very strong-willed and therefore usually achieve what they want and do not leave anything to chance. In business dealings they will adhere to well-defined contracts, and they will adhere to good practices during research work for preparatory studies or in the field of art. It is interesting that these people usually choose the most challenging tasks, and obstacles actually make them stronger instead of causing them hardship. It never bothers them to start the same task again and again until they attain the best possible result. Not many people are as suitable for research activity as Capricorns.
♍︎ MOON : VIRGO
Your feeling of safety is related to order and clarity, even in emotions. You may have the need to organize everything chaotic and disorganized. Try being more tolerant and accept imperfections of life. You may be terrified to show your dark side, but this can unnecessarily include something that your mother considered unacceptable or something that was denied to you in your childhood. Suppressing healthy, but problematic passions can turn into a hidden inner desire. Great emotional intensity and suppression of natural emotions can lead you into solitude, it is better to trust life and let it run its own way, not everything must be according to your expectations.
♍︎ ASCENDANT : VIRGO
People with Virgo Ascendant develop the best through spiritual analysis, discernment and self-criticism. Application of knowledge must be appropriate and consider the benefits that it brings - it must be beneficial to the public. The focus is interest in body and health. It is necessary to carefully select negative experiences in the person´s mind and get rid of them. Beware of obsession with neatness, precision and perfection because the person loses his natural spontaneity.
Sun and Moon Summary
You struggle to get as much status and power as possible to compensate for those fears. Your greatest pleasure comes from the admiration and prestige your work provides, so like all Capricorns, you are very career minded. You are very responsible and you are not really happy until you have plenty of power. You have the resolve to conquer any barrier and incredible determination and inner strength. Logical, thrifty, and cautious Virgo in your combination links up with determined, resolute, and career minded Capricorn. Your strength is cold, hard logic and you are a person with no illusions. You see things precisely as they are because you are a total pragmatist. Fantasies are a waste of time in your book. Instead of dreaming, you plan and are practical and efficient. Deep inside you most likely feel vague fears or indecision even though you appear rough, detached, and even a little cold. You also have fantastic powers of attentiveness and quite a mind. You are astute and calculating and know how to convince people of things, but for a lot of Capricorn-Virgos, winning becomes an end in itself. Participate in all the wonders of life, including the romantic and the religious. Do not allow your job and status to be an obsession. All Moons in Virgo people are picky, but your criticisms are frequently directed at yourself. Simply trying to accept yourself is the challenge for you. Your combination is perfectly fitted for managerial and leadership roles. Your rational and shrewd mind is ideal for academic activities. After you put your mind to something, you will be content until you have mastered it completely. A stable and equal relationship is important to your psychological well-being, but you are not exceptionally romantic. You are actually quite a sensitive person no matter how removed and cool you try to be. Do not try to deny or hide that sensitivity by taking on a role that is at odds with your true nature. Neurosis or self-destructive behavior can result from the fear of actual or imagined failings in life. You despise the idea of having any weaknesses. Capricorn-Virgos are never content. Regardless of how successful you are in life, something in you always tells you that you have not gone far enough. Try to have a little more sympathy for yourself because we all have limitations. Refrain from dwelling on those tiny imperfections you are you always think you have.
Zodiac Compatibility
Best: Taurus, Virgo, Scorpio, Pisces Worst: Gemini, Aries, Leo, Libra
M O R A L   A L I G N M E N T : L A W F U L   N E U T R A L
Typically driven by a strong sense of fairness and duty, these characters are often willing to take extreme personal risk to stay true to the accepted behavior and beliefs of their deity or society. Being morally neutral, a character of this alignment sees both good and evil as tools to use to maintain order. While members of many classes can be lawful neutral, the ideal class for this alignment is monk, whose dedication to their training, tradition, and personal perfection give them a clearly structured view of the world. Sometimes, however, a lawful neutral character can take their fervor too far, becoming near-tyrannical in the name of upholding justice and order.

He has taken on the life of hunting, and still searches for the one responsible for his family’s death.
While he is a hunter, he does not kill all supernatural creatures. He rather investigates them to determine their guilt and acts accordingly. If someone slips up, he is not afraid to go after them.

Glazed fins wrap Seattle’s Rosling Center by Miller Hull Partnership
Shading devices help reduce glare at The Rosling Center, a research facility focused on public health designed by architecture firm The Miller Hull Partnership for the University of Washington.
The building – officially called The Hans Rosling Center for Population Health – is located on the University of Washington (UW) campus in central Seattle.
Rosling Center is a research facility
Set on a gently sloping site, the eight-storey facility encompasses 300,000 square feet (27,870 square metres). It sits between the university's historic core, which dates to the 19th century, and an emerging innovation district.
The centre is named after Hans Rosling, a Swedish physician and professor who promoted a data-driven approach to improving human health.
The centre is on a sloping site
Designed by local firm The Miller Hull Partnership, the interdisciplinary building is designed to accommodate those studying critical global issues such as poverty, healthcare access, climate change and Covid-19.
The project was made possible by a $210 million gift from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, along with funding from the university and state legislature.
The Mill Hull Partnership designed the project
"It will serve as a central hub for faculty, researchers and students to work together with local and global partners to address some of the world's most significant challenges across three key areas – human health, environmental resilience, and social and economic equity," said The Miller Hull Partnership.
Rectangular in shape, the building was partly carved away at the ground level to form a large covered porch and urban stair, the team said. Several different treatments were used for the facades, depending upon their sun exposure and the surrounding context. On the west elevation, a glazed wall features glass louvres that are nearly a metre deep.
"Three-foot-deep glass fins provide a dynamic shade and shadow composition that protects occupants from west sun and glare," the team said. "Though physically static, the fins act as a canvas for changing light conditions throughout the day."
The building is rectangular in shape
The eastern facade, which faces the historic campus, also has a glass wall and fins, along with custom, precast concrete panels.
The shading devices are more subdued on this side to help the building blend with its neighbours. Moreover, an aggregate that matches nearby buildings was used for the concrete panels.
Glass forms the facade
"The building both defines and responds to its context," said Ruth Baleiko, the project design at Miller Hull.
"We looked for ways to build upon the physical and social structures of the site and leverage those elements in conjunction with environmental conditions to create a building that is, as much as possible, of its place."
Glass fins protrude from the research facility
Inside, the layout is intended to be flexible and to foster interactivity. The ground level holds classrooms and social areas, while the upper levels contain workspaces and collaboration areas.
On the ground floor, multiple entrances, or "front doors", create a welcoming atmosphere and provide an immediate visual connection to public spaces.
The centre's ground level has large windows
On upper levels, four types of work areas were created – small shared offices for up to two people, larger shared offices, open workstations and drop-in workstations.
"A set of four office types cater to various working styles and are organised as a collection of neighbourhoods, which breaks down the scale of each floor and democratises access to daylight, views and fresh air," the team said.
An open-plan seating area by the stairs
The building has a number of sustainable elements, including a high-performing facade, operable windows, ample daylight, low-flow fixtures and a rainwater collection system. The project aims to achieve LEED Gold certification from the US Green Building Council.
The Rosling Center is the first and largest integrated design-build project that has been completed on the UW campus, according to the team. Miller Hull worked on the project with Lease Crutcher Lewis, a Settle-based contractor.
Expansive views from the upper levels
The departments housed at the centre include the Institute for Health Metrics & Evaluation (IHME), the UW Department of Global Health, parts of the UW School of Public Health, and the offices of the UW Population Health Initiative. All of them have played some type of role in the response to the coronavirus pandemic.
The Miller Hull Partnership was started in 1977 by David Miller and Robert Hull. Other projects by the firm include a fire station on Washington's Mercer Island that has large bi-fold glass doors, enabling a quick exit for emergency trucks.

"A set of four office types cater to various working styles and are organised as a collection of neighbourhoods, which breaks down the scale of each floor and democratises access to daylight, views and fresh air," the team said.

Shared Workspace VS. Traditional Workspace in Seattle
Flexible office space is a flexible alternative to traditional office solutions, affording companies the possibility of implementing versatile space solutions. Flexible workspace is also known as shared office space or flexispace. This type of office space is fitted with basic equipment, like phone lines, desks, and chairs, a setup that allows employees who normally work from home or telecommute to have a physical office for a few hours every week or every month. Flexible working has traditionally been seen as a solution for workers who have other commitments such as family. Flexible working doesn't have to be about working less hours however. Mobile technology means that people can work on the move, or at home, or wherever else they might be. It's possible to put in a full day's work without being in the office. In the following article Jeanne Meister has provided about as Flexible Workspaces: Employee Perk Or Business Tool To Recruit Top Talent?
BlueWork SingaporeThirty million Americans now work from home at least one day a week, with that number forecast to increase sharply in the coming years, according to the Telework Reseach Network. By 2020, 1 in 3 people will be hired to work online, from anywhere they want, according to an estimate from Odesk, an online marketplace for hiring remote workers. Clearly, flexible workspaces –policies that allow employees to work when and where it makes most sense – are becoming a staple in some of the nation’s most successful companies. Forbs
You access highly skilled talent. Introducing flexible working allows you to access untapped pools of skilled and experienced talent. Thus, improving the calibre of applicants for all your vacancies. Mothers, fathers, carers, older workers and more. People with years of experience, often a senior level, seeking a job with some flexibility. In return, they bring a wealth of expertise to your business. In the above article Jeanne Meister described about Flexible workspace well. Learn more about shared workspace Seattle . The way that companies measure staff performance changes for the better once flexible working is introduced. It's no longer about how many hours you put in at the office, it's about the results you get. This results-based system means that staff are rewarded for good work and not just for showing up on time. It also means that staff can better meet these targets - they can work at the best times for getting a sale or generating a lead, so their time is used more effectively. In this article Kevin Gulley about Open Offices: The Trends, Benefits and Challenges Faced in Creating Flexible Work Spaces.
Finally, I asked Mitch to speculate on the future of open office plans, and whether he thinks the trend toward smaller and more flexible work spaces will continue.“I think the cost savings alone of these smaller and more flexible spaces means that they will continue to thrive. Not only that, but the way today’s millennial workforce prefers to work is in this type of a setting – it’s how they are most comfortable.” The UC Buyer
In fact, those are all possible nowadays thanks to the huge development of mobile communications and cloud computing. For example, you could be jotting notes on your mobile via applications like Evernote, then it gets synced to any device you may use so that you can resume it once you are at the office and using another computer. The same applies to accessing your professional e-mails: should you installed a cloud-based e-mail system like Hosted Exchange, then that 45 minutes spent telecommuting would have been beneficial for clearing your inbox while answering important e-mails. Flexible working can also be beneficial to the employer. If no-one works from the office, you don't have to rent any office space. This means lower overheads so fewer outgoings for your business. Studies have shown that employees who are given the choice to work out of the office are more committed to the company - there's a better work/life balance and employees feel that they are trusted and can be more productive. Some staff even welcome the opportunity to work fewer hours if this is what you want to offer - good for any business during the credit crunch. Regard on the topic Madeline Bennett has described about benefit and future of flexibility as Hot desking is old hat–the future of flexible working .
As we move towards this changing workforce, organisations that start shifting their practices to embrace flexibility in all its forms will be the ones that not only have their pick of the best staff, but will be able to recruit staff at all. Telegraph

First Week as a SWE Intern at Microsoft
I just finished up the first week of my software engineering (SWE) internship at Microsoft. I’m technically a returning intern, but last summer I was remote and in the more entry-level internship (Explorer). To read more about my previous internship, click here. This summer, I’m living in the Seattle area and working out of the Redmond office. To read more about my trip here, check out the blog post I wrote last week.
This summer I am working on the OneNote Integrated Experiences (ONIX) team. Essentially my team works on enabling notetaking experiences outside of OneNote itself. My specific intern project is confidential, but I can assure you that it’s pretty cool! It’s super exciting because my project will likely have a real impact as it will (hopefully) at some point reach actual consumers. As exciting as working in a real codebase is, it is also a bit intimidating. This week I got the chance to meet my team, other interns, and some of the folks I worked with last summer for the first time in person. I also set up my development environment and started learning the requisite technologies (TypeScript, React, and Redux) for my project.
As for my workspace, I share an office space with four other OneNote interns. We each have our own desks, desktop computers, monitors, and a set of desk drawers. My work laptop is the Surface Book 3 which I’ve really been liking so far. That said, a few interns got the Surface Book 4 which is way sleeker. Our office is decorated with custom OneNote graphics and a neon sign (that makes our office glow purple). Additionally, we have a few beanbag chairs. Since Microsoft is Hybrid right now, there are a number of empty offices which are perfect for when I need to step out to take a Teams call.
Tumblr media
From what I can tell so far, each floor of each building has a basic kitchen containing a fridge, microwave, coffee machine, and free beverages like canned sodas and juices. There is also a cool machine that makes custom sparkling waters. It’s called a SodaStream Professional and is powered by Azure (Microsoft’s cloud computing service). Essentially, you use the screen (or an app on your phone) to select a flavor, flavor intensity, carbonation level, and size. Alternatively, you can get flavored still water and select the desired temperature. To reduce waste, I have been using my Microsoft tumbler (that I bought last summer with a gift card to the company store) for my morning tea and for the custom sparkling waters. As for food, many of the buildings have their own cafeterias and there are additional food options in the Commons. Since the food costs money, I typically opt to bring in my own lunch.
Tumblr media
On the first day, all of the interns received a grey top-loading backpacks, a picnic blanket, and a mini Microsoft cup with camomile seeds. All Microsoft employees also get a year of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate which I’ve gifted to a gamer friend.
Tumblr media
Most interns received team-specific swag as well. From my team, I got a nice Hershel backpack featuring the OneNote logo, a soft blanket that is perfect for the office, and some other assorted things. Pictured below is my OneNote backpack with my two stuffed animals. (I don’t bring the stuffed animals to work, we were just instructed to share a fun photo of our backpacks with the team). So far the broader OneNote team has been very welcoming and great to work with. One of the program managers on my team set up a regular lunch for us interns and OneNote full-timers. Last Friday we also had a game event over lunch organized by one of the OneNote managers.
Tumblr media
The main pain point of my internship so far has been the hour-long commute. For the first two days, I bought tickets on the Transit Go app and took public buses. Fortunately, I can now explore the city free of charge as Microsoft provides all Puget Sound employees with ORCA cards. As for my daily commute, I now take the Microsoft Connector which is more comfortable and provides free wifi. The other upside of the Connector is that because it’s all Microsoft employees the full-timers often strike up conversations with us interns. The downside is that the commute is still quite lengthy, requires a walk to/from the hotel, and requires us to reserve seats ahead of time.
This post is mostly about my first week of work, but I did also get a chance to start exploring the area with fellow interns living in my hotel. Yesterday we went to Pike Place Market, Starbucks Reserve, and two book stores including a cat bookstore called Twice Sold Tales. While the market was way too crowded for my liking, I did get some incredible mac and cheese from Beecher's Handmade Cheese.

A few weekks back, I visited Amazons's "Spheres" located in downtown Seattle at Amazon's headquarters! Newly opened in 2018, this conservatory was created as an employee lounge and workspace for employees to think and work differently while surrounded by over 40,000 plants from over 30 countries! In the hustle and bustle of this concrete-filled world, we can easily forget that we came from the Earth just like all plants and we too will die and return to the dirt just like all plants. Plants take in CO2 and turn it into freah clean oxygen. We too should take the filth we are surrounded by and turn it into positives vibes and share the fruits and unique talents that God has given us with the world :) #ifeelikeYasminMogahed @seattlespheres https://ift.tt/2uKPcfy
